Start with the membership barcode
If your gym gives you a plastic key tag or a barcode in an email, you can turn that barcode into an Apple Wallet pass. You do not need official Wallet support to scan in.
How Apple Wallet fits in
Apple Wallet stores digital passes on your iPhone. Once a pass is saved, you can open it quickly and scan it at the front desk like any official gym pass.
Many gyms never provide a Wallet add button, but that does not block you. If you have the barcode value, you can create the .pkpass file yourself.
Official Apple Wallet pass programs require an Apple Developer account and Apple-issued pass keys (certificates), which adds cost and setup for gyms.
Create the pass with WalletWallet
WalletWallet converts your membership barcode into a Wallet-ready pass so you can scan in fast every time.
- Scan the membership barcode with your camera.
- Set the pass title to the gym name and add an optional label.
- Choose a color preset and download the pass.
- Open the .pkpass file to save it in Apple Wallet.
Keep passes current
Some gyms rotate membership barcodes. If yours changes, repeat the same steps and replace the old pass in Apple Wallet so the scanner always reads the latest code.
Usage tip
Keep the pass in your Favorites in Apple Wallet for faster access. This makes your loyalty card barcode available in a single tap at the front desk.
If the scanner struggles, increase screen brightness and hold the phone steady for a second. Most barcode readers lock quickly when the screen is bright.
If your gym uses a linear barcode, make sure your screen is not zoomed and the barcode is fully visible.
Quick recap
Even without official Apple Wallet support, you can store your gym membership in Wallet. WalletWallet creates a pass from the barcode so check-ins stay smooth.
It keeps your membership accessible and reduces the friction of everyday visits.
